If you’re aged 50 to 74, the NHS will automatically send you a bowel cancer screening FIT kit every 2 years.
The test is simple, quick and can be done at home. It checks a small sample of poo for tiny amounts of blood that may not be visible.
Received your kit?
Complete the test and return it using the instructions provided. It only takes a few minutes and could help find bowel cancer early, sometimes before you have any symptoms.
Aged 75 or over? You can still take part every 2 years by calling the free NHS bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 6060.
Not received your kit when you think you should have? Call the same helpline for advice.
Important:
Screening is for people without symptoms. If you have symptoms such as blood in your poo or a persistent change in your bowel habits, please contact the surgery rather than waiting for a screening test.
Take the test. Return the kit.
